Chairman Bio
Mohammad Robiul Islam
Founder & Chairman, Rural Initiative and Welfare Association (RIWA)
Mohammad Robiul Islam was born into the respected Karail Kazi family in Mirzapur Thana, Tangail District, Bangladesh. His father, the late Shamsuddin Ahmed, and mother, Aflatun Nessa, instilled in him values of compassion, responsibility, and a deep sense of social commitment from a young age.
He completed his intermediate education from T & T College in 1974. Driven by a desire to explore and learn, he underwent various professional trainings between 1978 and 1981. From 1981 to 1988, he worked in several Middle Eastern countries. In 1990, he moved to the United States, where he successfully ran business operations for 35 years until 2025.
Despite his professional success abroad, Mr. Islam never forgot his roots. He consistently remained engaged in philanthropic activities for the welfare of disadvantaged communities in Bangladesh. He supported underprivileged students through personal funding and played a pioneering role in introducing waste disposal systems in Tangail. While living in the U.S., he was widely recognized as an active community leader and social worker.
Motivated by the belief that “real change begins at the roots,” he returned to Bangladesh with the dream of directly contributing to national development. In 2024, he founded the Rural Initiative and Welfare Association (RIWA) — a non-political, non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for rural communities.
Under his visionary leadership, RIWA has initiated and implemented various development projects focused on employment generation, education, healthcare, and women’s empowerment. Mr. Islam is especially passionate about empowering the youth, helping them become self-reliant and socially responsible citizens.
Today, Mohammad Robiul Islam continues to serve as the Chairman of RIWA, guiding its mission with integrity, patriotism, and unwavering dedication. His lifelong commitment to social service and sustainable development reflects a legacy that aims to live on — even beyond his lifetime.
